Hi everyone

What a great night at Christchurch! Vanity Fare opened the show and gave a very polished performance all the way through with their own songs and backing Brian Poole and PJ.
Brian sang all his popular dance songs and had some of the audience dancing in the aisles with Twist and Stout etc.
PJ looked amazing when he appeared on stage wearing a white suit and black shirt. He was stunning both visually and vocally....on top form!
During Somewhere a number of ladies went down to the stage. PJ responded by knealing and holding their hands while he sang. He certainly made their night!
The show ended with PJ, Brian and Vanity Fare singing The Games People Play and Out of Time.
Judging by the comments of people leaving after the show they had had a wonderful time.
It was nice to see both Annie and Marilyn.

PJ returns to the south on 4 October at the Central Theatre Chatham.

Hi Margaret,

Thank you so much for your report. It must have been a great show.
The Proby&Friends concept sounds like a good formula!
I feel terrible I wasn't there  , but your report does make up for it a little bit.
I'd love to hear more from others!
If anybody took photos could you please send me some?

Manja

Annie is away at the moment (and away from the 'net) but I saw her yesterday and she asked me to post this review:

"WHAT A SHOW, the best I have seen so far. The sound was perfect, the theatre was almost full, people had come from far and wide to see PJ. One lady had travelled down by train from Manchester.
VANITY FARE kicked off with their hits, getting us in the mood, they included a tribute medley to THE BYRDS, who they performed with in the States, thus giving a different slant to their repertoire - they were brilliant.
Lovely BRIAN POOLE came on and, in his usual way, got the audience going and had them dancing in the aisles - he is a true professional - voice showing signs of wear but a joy to listen to.
VANITY FARE started the second half and as the music for PJ came up SOPHIE came on stage - a talented lady who keeps in the background. Then the man himself, looking resplendant in a white suit, black shirt and braces! He looked and sounded magnificent (has he slimmed down a little?), the voice was so strong and pure - this is what PJ is all about, he was full of himself, FABULOUS. The audience loved him, it seemed most of the ladies in the theatre were up front trying to 'hold his hand' when he sang 'Somewhere', his smile for them was probably enough to gratify the ones that couldn't reach.
All performers joined in the finale, the audience wanted more, PJ said they were 'Out of time' - cue for another song. It was all over far too soon.
My evening was complete when I was able to meet with PJ and give him a stitched picture I had made of him. He was thrilled and said it would go in his Hall of Fame. I was a shaking, gibbering wreck at the thought of it all.
On Monday morning I was staying in West Sussex and was able to catch the interview with Les Reed on Sussex radio. PJ was on the telephone and he and Les reminisced about the early days and the songs PJ had 'turned down' (Les's words, PJ said it was political). It was good to have a live interview on radio, with no editing. Les said afterwards that PJ had one of the best voices he had ever worked with - we know he's the best, don't we guys?

Annie"

It's so lovely to read these great reviews and to hear that PJ is still in TOP FORM, that really warms my heart. Now everything would be complete if only he can fly down under in 2010 and do an Aussie/New Zealand Tour. I can tell you, we're all hanging by our thumbs for it.

Cheers,
Leanne.

Hi Leanne,
Failing that why not travel to the UK next year to take in all PJ's shows I'm sure we could all give you free B & B up and down the country while you did every show. Now there's a thought for you and would be lovely to meet you and say thanks for the great mag you did for Jim's 70th.

Take Care

Hi Leanne

You could also stay with me at Littlehampton, West Sussex.
You'd be very welcome. Before you know it you'll have a place in every town!

Best wishes

Hi Sue,
Wow, that is a great idea, although I have a business to run back home in Australia so I may only be able to make it to a few of PJ's shows.

Still would love to see PJ back in Australia as well.

Cheers,
Leanne.

Hi Jeanie,
Wow that's very kind of you. I certainly need to look at getting myself into gear for a 2010 Proby Tour of UK & Scotland and then I may even be lucky enough escort PJ back down under for an Aussie/New Zealand Tour. :D

Now wouldn't that be something. :D

Cheers,
Leanne
