hi,
Just read that Andy Williams will be appearing at the world famous Glastonbury festival next year! I see that his album "The Very Best Of.." has just reached the album charts top 10 so this must be the reason he got the invite. What a closed shop situation!!The guy is 82 years old.....his voice these days is weak!
I'm not bitter or twisted....good luck to the old fart BUT why oh why didn't EMI give P.J. any promotion last year when his fabulous CD "The EMI Years 1961-1972 " came out? It could & should have made the top 20 CD chart & then P.J.would hopefully have got his just reward.....a spot at Glastonbury!
At the moment in the album top 10 we have Barbra Streisand at no.1.Also in the top 10 there is Cliff & The Shadows,Vera Lynn & Chris Rea along with Andy W. All seasoned veterans but none a patch on P.J.P. He's got the best voice around still! When will he get the recognition he truly deserves?........it really frustrates me!
Ron
P.S. I e-mailed the festival to put my point across but as expected they did not answer.

I agree Ron, how do they compile the charts now? Surely nobody goes out and buys cds - don't they all download and I would have thought that the people "buying" these albums would not be seen dead at Glastonbury. My days of wallowing in mud are well gone - in any case I understand all tickets are sold for Glastonbury - who on earth are they all going to see???? On second thoughts a good mud wallow might be fun, with the right person!

Hi,
I think the album charts are still mainly based on actual sales of the little silver thing called a CD.As for the singles I just don't know. One guest star appearance on "The X Factor" & you are certain of the no.1 spot or at the very least a top 5 hit.It all sounds like a big fiddle to me & computer hits & manipulation by certain record label bosses make the singles chart a foregone conclusion.Give me the good old days in the 60's.I'm not naive enough to think there wasn't a bit of fixing going on back then but these days it's got ridiculous.
Mind you if there was a bit of fixing going on to get P.J. back in the charts I'd turn a blind eye!! He actually deserves it! the others don't.
Ron
P.S. I'd love to push all of the cheats deep into the Glastonbury mud!
