What a night!! The theatre seemed nearly full and the atmosphere was wonderful. Comedian as compere was OK and every sympathy with a young singer/keyboard player who lost sound half way through but struggled on. It must be difficult being in the first half when you know the audience out there have come for one thing and one thing only.
And oh boy did PJ deliver. I know there were problems with the sound which bothered PJ but it didn't detract from the fantastic show he gave. The voice was spot on and so powerful. He looked great in his white attire and braces! Frank Johns as backing did a great job along with the fantastic Sophie of course(love the new hair do Sophie).
But PJ just made the night. There were people in the audience who hadn't seen or heard of PJ since the 60's and were just blown away with the voice and the man. Merchandise went well as everyone seemed to want to take home a little "Proby Magic."
Encore after encore and I think PJ could have stayed all night no one wanted him to leave and I'm not sure if he wanted to go!!
I think Port Sunlight has just given PJ a host more "new" fans who know that the legend ---- "I'm Back"!
I'm sure someone will oblige with a run down off the songs PJ sang but they included - Somewhere, Maria, Angelica, I Apologise, Hold Me, Stagger Lee, American Trilogy (which got a standing ovation), Together and an Elvis Medley plus many more.

Yes like Sue has already said it was a fantastic night. Well every show that PJ does is fantastic. It was nice meeting everyone again and hope to meet again next year at some of his shows. I am now looking forward to Glasgow

I was at Port Sunlight and I have to agree with you ladies PJ was as always superb. I'ts so good to listen to the reaction of people who haven't seen him for years and are obviously blown away by his performance. He was definately not happy with the backing music which did drown him out at times but he carried on regardless, (unlike the poor lad before him). Sorry I didn't see you sue, I have met you acouple of times (stoke & blackpool) but I couln't find you on monday. Now I'm looking forward to getting the CD.
GEORGE.

So glad I was able to make it to Port Sunlight because PJ was at his very best!! I absolutely loved his white suit and black shirt - I was a love-struck teenager all over again. The power of his voice amazes me even after all these years of listening to him, and 'Somewhere' is such a special song for me. Frank Johns did a great job, and Sophie was brilliant as usual. Even with the sound problem the audience were thrilled with PJ's performance, and showed their appreciation with continued standing ovations. A wonderful night of 'Proby Heaven!!' It was lovely to meet up with everyone again, especially as some of us were staying in the same hotel. Hope to see you all again soon.

Hi George, Sorry I missed you too. I was on the merchandise table during the interval maybe that's why you missed me. I was on front row (of course!!) during show. What a fantastic night and what an appreciative audience. If you're in Glasgow I'll see you there if not then I'm sure "We'll Meet Again" "Somewhere".
Where are you from George?
Like you can't wait for the new CD.
I agree with Elaine PJ makes me feel 14 all over again!! And when I look at PJ he still looks 26!!!!!!!!!!!
Proby love to you all.

Hi All,
This is my first post on here, although i posted on another Proby site.
Just to throw in my little bit,i was there as well on the front row.
I did meet a lot of you guy's briefly, but cannot say names in case i leave someone out. PJ was brilliant,he always is these days and went down a storm. Lets face it Merseyside people know their music and they know whats good. There support to the young lad whose sound failed was typical of these people (and i'm a Mancunian) To the guy's on here Sophie was really dolled up and good for us men to look at. Really would like to see a few big ballads thrown into his show,as everyone loves Proby ballads.
Sound system was a bit of a pain, can they not get this sorted before the show starts? PJ is gaining new fans all over the place, and i am sure he will have many more from that crowd who will want to see him again. It would be good to recruit people's email addresses at these shows to introduce them to sites like this and Bjorns
A pen, paper on a clipboard on the desk and we could get lots of "new" fans to join the crusade.
Jim was pure class, wish he would engage crowd sooner with his chat in between the songs, because this goes down so well with the crowd. Jim is interesting with his little stories and also naturally witty. As always at the end i look back at the whole theatre to see how many people are on their feet, and there was loads. The hour and a bit flew by.
Finally the Manchester area is huge 3rd biggest city, but there is never any Proby shows...WHY??
Warm regards to all

Skintman

Hi All
sorry it took so long to reply, but I'm a wage slave. Oh what a night!
Can't make my mind up which was best Christchurch or Port sunlight, but I think Port Sunlight was the one, fantastic company with Sue,Pauline and Elaine in the hotel, nice to meet up with Margaret working her socks off, hope he appreciates you. Also nice to meet up with Elsie, skintman, and lady friend.
P J was fantastic, when he sang American trilogy(not one of my favourites) the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, but my evening was made when he sang Angellica. That evening I was proud to be a probyian.
My only comment is wish he would leave out the Elvis bit, it does him no favours, people come to see P J not an Elvis impersonator, he is too talented for that.
Hope to see you all soon, maybe next year
love Marilyn
